ARN Hall of Fame inductee, John Grant, is set to step down as Data#3 managing director after 18 years at the helm.

Grant has worked at the company for 34 years, 18 of which have been as managing director. He will finish in his role on December 31, 2015, at the completion of his current service agreement.

Current group general manager, Laurence Baynham, has been appointed chief executive, effective immediately, as part of a succession plan which has been formulated over the past year by the senior leadership team.

Grant will maintain a strong involvement with the company as a supportive shareholder and through his positions as chairman of the board of Discovery Technology and a member of the advisory board of Business Aspect.

Data#3 chairman, Richard Anderson, said, through to December 2015, Grant would be responsible for transitioning all current operational responsibilities to Baynham, "helping and supporting him where required; certain strategic project where the board see his leadership as appropriate; and managing Data#3's acquisition interests".

"I am sure that all shareholder will agree that John deserves the highest accolades for his long period of dedication to the success and growth of Data#3 and will look forward to a successful transition to Lawrence and John's continuing association with the company."

Grant said the handing over of day-to-day operations to Baynham was his recommendation and that he was delighted the board had accepted it.

"This long period of transition is designed to ensure that there is a smooth transition," he said.

"With 10 years' experience in running the majority of the business through the lines of business and states, we expect Laurence will readily accommodate the additional management responsibilities of CEO and I will work with him to transition the relationship with the investment community and our shareholders."

Grant said he would consider appointment as a non-executive director after a suitable period.

"I have enjoyed my time enormously at Data#3 and will continue to do so for the balance of my term as managing director," he said.

"It has become a great company with a remarkable team. I look forward to continuing to play a key role and to helping and supporting Lawrence to optimise results from this year's plan.
