Australia Post has partnered with Australia’s new online property exchange, Property Exchange Australia to provide enhanced identity verification services for its customers.
As part of the deal, Australia Post will also be offering Verification of Identity (VOI) services to property lawyers and conveyancers’ clients at more than 1,500 participating post offices nationally.
Australia Post general manager of products, Andrew Maitland, said the organisation was pleased to be working with PEXA.
“We’re committed to working with businesses to provide their customers with a range of trusted services," he said.
"This announcement is further evidence of this commitment to offer Australians access to services and communications in a trusted, convenient and digital format.”
He said property lawyers, conveyancers and mortgagees who used Australia Post to verify their customers’ identity for property transactions could also now receive Verification of Identity reports through Australia Post’s MyPost Digital Mailbox.
PEXA chief executive, Marcus Price, said, by working with Australia Post, PEXA continued to take distance and geography out of the property exchange process.
“There are two key steps in a property transaction that require a physical meeting of parties; the VOI check and physical attendance at settlement," he said.
"Australia Post removes the first while PEXA takes care of the rest through its online lodgement and financial settlement capability.”
