Manufacturer and distributor ADO Group is expanding its product offering beyond its Panasonic portfolio, announcing its appointment as the exclusive distributor in Australia of Vibrant-branded monitors.
One of the world's largest monitor manufacturers, Tatung created the Vibrant brand in an attempt to tap into the lucrative retail market. Tatung manufactures Hitachi, NEC, HP and ViewSonic-branded monitors.
The Vibrant 15-inch and 17-inch LCD monitors are targeted at the entry-level market and come with a three-year onsite and three-month swap warranty (including backlight).
ADO Group's product manager, Bill McArthur, said the vendor and ADO have cut their margins in order to offer entry-level pricing on the LCDs until the new brand becomes more widely recognised.
"There are 20 to 30 brands on the LCD market and it is a very competitive space. So we [Tatung and ADO] had to find an angle, a differentiator. The Vibrant monitors' differentiator is price and warranty."
ADO Group currently offers Vibrant's 15-inch monitors for a dealer price of $530 (ex GST) and an RRP of $649-$699. The distributor will supply the 17-inch LCDs from January.
The distributor is looking to build a 50 to 100-strong reseller base for the Vibrant LCDs in Australia.
