Westcon Group Australia sales director, Peter Hewett, has joined Kasperky Lab as its managing director, Asia Pacific.
He is responsible for the growth and leadership of the APAC region.
Hewett was with Westcon Group for two years and nine months starting out as regional sales director in December 2011 before taking on the sales director job in march 2013.
Prior to that he was with Sophos for seven years and five months in a variety of roles starting as a sales engineer in July 2004 and rising to the position of director, sales Northern Australia in November 2010.
Before that he spent a short-time at Communecom after a four year plus stint with legendary IT firm, Tech Pacific, where he served as national systems manager - enterprise systems from March 1998,.
On his LinkedIn page, Hewett says of himself, "With 23 years of experience in all aspects of the Information Technology market, with the last decade focused in security and channels, I have learnt that success is about hiring the right people, listening to their advice and helping them to build high performance teams.
"I am qualified in SPIN selling, marketing, project management and ITIL, starting my career in technical roles before moving on to sales engineering, sales leadership and then business management roles.
"Specialties: My primary skill is finding, recruiting, and then managing people. I am skilled at building successful teams and driving them to deliver on their objectives, communicating effectively to a diverse audience, strategic thinking and negotiating.
"I lead by example and expect integrity from my team and I love being in front of customers."
He lists education, human rights, disaster and humanitarian relief, poverty alleviation, science and technology and social services as cause he cares about.
