Enterprise application software company, SAP, has invested further in its local Cloud play with the appointment of John Ruthven as chief operating officer (COO) for Australia and New Zealand.
Ruthven will lead the company’s pre-sales, industry value engineering, and sales operations teams, and is tasked with optimising local operations to deliver as-a-service offerings as well as the SAP HANA platform across the region.
SAP said it appointed Ruthven to “drive Cloud momentum,” having won Cloud contracts with more than 40 customers in A/NZ in the second quarter of calendar 2014.
“John Ruthven’s appointment will ensure we continue our course as an open co-innovator to better serve organisations as they transition to the Cloud,” SAP A/NZ president and managing director, Andrew Barkla, said.
Ruthven joined SAP in January as head of Cloud and line of business solutions across Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ). He is credited with taking the company to 48 per cent year-over-year (YoY) growth in Cloud subscriptions and support revenue.
Prior, he spent just under two years with Zuora as senior vice-president of international sales, preceded by eight years with CA Technologies in numerous roles for its APJ and global offices.
Earlier in his 20-year career, he worked for Computer Associates, starting as a sales representative before moving up to lead its APJ operations.
