iVox’s Michael Clarke shifts to Inabox CTO role

Appointed to lead product strategy as group integrates voice, VoIP, and Cloud brands

Michael Clarke has left his post as chief executive officer (CEO) of wholesale voice over IP (VoIP) provider, iVox, to assume the position of chief technology officer (CTO) of parent company, Inabox Group.

Clarke is tasked with working with Inabox’s chief information officer (CIO), Laura Jacobs, and group product manager, James Espie, to transform the company into a technology-driven business.

According to a company statement, Clarke’s promotion is part of the group’s goal of becoming a leading provider of wholesale telecommunications and technology services.

It complements the vendor’s upcoming acquisition of Neural Networks Data Services. Inabox unveiled yesterday that it expects to purchase the business and assets of the Brisbane-based provider of wholesale Cloud and VoIP products this month for $A350,000, and will subsequently gain more than 100 customers.

This latest addition takes Inabox to three brands, representing traditional telco (Telcoinabox), VoIP (iVox), and Cloud (Neural).

Clarke will therefore be responsible for Inabox’s networks, system administration, voice engineering, and Cloud business teams. He will also lead the future development and growth of voice products and Cloud services as the brands integrate into unified, product-based operations.

He told ARN the focus will be on catering for its managed services provider (MSP) customers which service small to medium-sized enterprises; his six to 12-month strategy will look at hosted voice, hosted applications, and hosted desktops to allow MSPs to productise as part of their own value-added portfolio.

Inabox acquired iVox as part of its initial public offering of $A2.9 million to the Australian Stock Exchange in mid-2013. Since joining the Group as part of the acquisition, Clarke has been credited for being “instrumental” in transitioning the business from a reseller to an originator of VoIP.
