Symantec annual backup and recovery product, Backup Exec, has been updated and released in A/NZ.
Pacific managing director and vice president, Brenton Smith, said the 2014 version of the product, which protects virtual, physical and hybrid infrastructures, is faster than previous ones.
“To help build Backup Exec 2014, Symantec sourced the collective feedback of approximately 3700 customers and partners worldwide who participated in a beta program,” he said
“This feedback helped us do our homework in understanding what customers and partners really want in a backup and recovery solution.”
Local backup support
Mitre 10 New Zealand was one local Symantec customer that participated in the Backup Exec beta program.
The company adopted Backup Exec after using other backup solutions on a virtualised environment with "varying degrees of success."
Infrastructure and support manager, Paul Flatt, said the product helped simplify and speed up the backup process.
“The ability to back up a virtual machine image as well as the files inside it is what makes Backup Exec 2014 compelling,” he said.Read more:Intel Capital invests in Kiwi exercise analysis software provider
Flatt also highlights the ability restore an entire virtualised application or the granular data in it, whether it is Exchange or SharePoint or SQL, as another key function.
