Thin client vendor, Wyse Technology, has appointed a regional marketing manager to implement a new channel partner program and the Wyse online channel university initiative.
Steven Caldwell takes up the marketing helm after Wyse's recent consistent growth in the Oceania region (including Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea).
The company claimed it recently secured a 70 per cent share of the local market.
“Wyse’s market share in the local market is higher than any other region globally,” Caldwell said.
The company wants to leverage its strong position in the thin-client market in order to build its server-based software business.
Caldwell will be charged with launching the online channel university program, that will go live in the next few weeks. The training site is made up of about 11 certification programs or modules that focus on individual Wyse products.
Wyse resellers have had to rely on sporadic on-site product training and were eagerly awaiting the new online program which provideds them with training on demand, Caldwell said.
The company will offer resellers incentives to complete the different training modules but Caldwell could not divulge all the details.
Wyse will also roll out a new channel partner program in which resellers can acquire different levels of status and subsequent benefits such as access to extra promotional programs and aids. They include demo kits, marketing funds and sales leads.
Caldwell brings to Wyse Technology more than 10 years experience in corporate communications, customer and channel marketing and product management at Digital Equipment Corporation and Compaq.
