Australian software company, Altium, has appointed Jason Hingston to lead the company's technical operations.
Hingston's appointment as chief technical officer follows the recent decision to move the companies operations to San Diego, California, in a bid to make it more accesible to partners.
Altium chief executive, Aram Mirkazemi, said Hingston had more than 15 years experience in CAD software development, combined with a deep understanding of the electronic design automation industry.
"Jason will be responsible for Altium's product development strategy and defining the company's product roadmaps," he said.
"Among his achievements, Jason has led the creation of the world's first integrated 3D visualisation system for PCB design, a significant advance for the electronics design industry."
The appointment of Hingston will allow Mirkazemi to focus his full attention on the demands of the chief executive role, while continuing to take an active and close interest in Altium's product development.
Mirkazemi said the appointment would be instrumental in consolidation the company's leadership in the PCB market, "while also expanding our reach through closing the capability gaps with specialist providers of high-end PCB design tools".
Hingston most recently served as director, product management - a role he held since 2012.
