NETGEAR strengthens its range of business class switches

<p>Sydney, Australia (October 30, 2003) -- NETGEAR (Nasdaq: NTGR), a leading provider of easy to use, high-performance networking products, has developed a new range of Layer 2, Layer 3 and Smart Switches that are ideal for businesses looking to support up to 250 users.</p>
<p>NETGEAR's newest Layer 2 Managed Gigabit Switches, the GSM712 (with 10 ports) and the GSM712F (with 12 ports), are Layer 3 aware and deliver user friendly management and gigabit speed for high-performance network backbone. These non-blocking switches offer:</p>
<p>- Accelerated access time for maximized productivity when used in combination with FSM726S Managed Stackable Switches and gigabit-speed servers
- Two management interface options - an easy-to-follow, browser-based interface and a command line interface
- Management features including SNMP, RMON, VLAN, QoS, port trunking, Spanning Tree and port mirroring
- Network accommodation for as many as 8,000 users
- The connection flexibility of 10 Copper Gigabit ports and 2 slots for GBIC modules with the GSM712, and either 8 Copper or Fibre Gigabit ports and 4 slots for GBIC modules with the GSM712F

<p>The GSM7312 and GSM7324 are the newest Layer 3 switches in NETGEAR's Managed Gigabit Switch range, providing maximum throughput and flexibility for demanding networks. The GSM7312 (with 12 ports) and the GSM7324 (with 24 ports) are Layer 4 aware and offer businesses:</p>
<p>- Layer 2 and Layer 3 managed switching functionality
- Extensive features which facilitate offloading slow and expensive routers and aggregating gigabit servers and Layer 2 switches
