Victorian government invests $6 million outsourcing ICT

Funding will come from 2014-15 State Budget

The Victorian government is set to invest $6 million outsourcing ICT infrastructure for the Centre for IT Excellence and towards changes in the procurement of services in 2014-15 state budget.

Technology minister, Gordon Rich-Phillips, said the government was committed to transforming the ICT services that underpinned the state government.

He said the procurement process, launched in September 2013 to outsource CenITex’s services, had resulted in a successful Expression of Interest (EoI) and collaborative dialogue with ICT vendors and CenITex’s government customers.

“The collaborative dialogue has provided useful information that will inform the approach to market that should be taken for the services provided by CenITex," he said.

"As intended, the feedback will inform better ways to structure the Request for Proposal (RFP) that is released into the market as part of the procurement process."

Rich-Phillips said the RFP for the outsourced services was now being refined and was expected to be issued to industry later in 2014.”

“Responsibility for the next stage of the procurement of the outsourced services is now being transitioned to the Department of State Development, Business and Innovation (DSDBI), which is responsible for whole of government ICT procurement," he said.

“The transition will provide access to this procurement and other ICT market and project management expertise and will continue to ensure the outsourcing project will be closely coordinated with, and meet the ICT service and transformation needs of, Victorian Government departments."
