Amcom inks AARNet deal to deliver UC to 38 universities and CSIRO

Cloud collaboration platform enables access to enterprise-grade hosted unified communications

Amcom has partnered AARNet to deliver its Cloud collaboration platform to 38 universities and the CSIRO.

The Amcom Cloud Collaboration platform, which is powered by Cisco, will enable national research and educational entities to access an enterprise grade hosted unified communications solution via AARNet’s network infrastructure and integrate with its Unified Communications Exchange.

Amcom Cloud Collaboration, combined with AARNet’s AUCX, will empower institutions to communicate and collaborate effectively and efficiently with their peers in the research and education sectors using an integrated suite of telephony, video, mobility, and collaboration tools.

The next generation platform includes secure real time instant messaging and the ability to see the status/presence of colleagues – all accessible and integrated across the office, home and the latest mobile devices – simply, reliably and securely.

Institutions will only pay for what they need on a consumption basis.

Amcom chief executive, Clive Stein, said Amcom and AARNet had a long and successful association established over many years of working collaboratively.

"We are pleased to now partner with AARNet to deliver Amcom Cloud Collaboration to the higher education and research sectors,” he said.

AARNet chief executive, Chris Hancock, said the company was excited to extend its partnering relationship with Amcom for the delivery of unified communications.

"We see this as the next generation of communication tools that are ideally suited to our customer base.”
