Optus Business has merged its collaboration offerings into a hosted unified communications-as-a-service (UCaaS) suite.
The suite leverages partner company SingTel’s Cloud, mobility, voice and fixed data network services, and is targeted at enterprises looking to shift from PABX systems to a consumption-based model.
Services included in the UCaaS platform include enterprise telephony, voicemail and unified messaging, instant messaging, presence for faster connection with contacts, video-enabled collaboration, mobility, and audio and web conferencing options.
Optus UCaaS has been built on Optus’ Evolve IP network. It is hosted across datacentres in Asia-Pacific (APAC), and delivered through multi-protocol label switching (MPLS).
The solution is offered on a monthly subscription basis intended to allow customers to manage operating costs and scale as required. The telco said this makes it ideal for organisations undergoing transformation or experiencing rapid growth.
“The future of enterprise communications is in the convergence of fixed, mobile and Cloud technologies,” Optus Business managing director, John Paitaridis, said.
“The launch of UCaaS enables Australia and Asia-based enterprises to communicate and collaborate in a secure and cost-effective way across the APAC region.”
Optus Business has also launched a ‘contact centre-as-a-service’ (CCaaS) solution which contains additional channels including web chat and email engagement.
The service is based on Cisco’s hosted collaboration technology platform.
“With CCaaS, customers can shift their current contact centre services across to an enterprise-grade, hosted model that removes the need for significant up-front infrastructure spend,” Paitaridis said.
The combined UCaaS and CCaaS solutions include a Mobile Unified Communications Client aimed at supporting the growth of mobile workforces in Australia.
The client is designed to extend business telephony to mobile handsets, allowing staff to access advanced UC features in the field.
