File sharing service Hightail is on the hunt for systems integration partners after opening a new Asia Pacific headquarters in Melbourne.

Hightail, formerly YouSendIt, is set to expand from five to 20 staff in the next year and already has more than 600,000 users and 125 corporate accounts, including Tennis Australia, City of Melbourne, Tourism Australia, Hydro Tasmania and Woods Bagot.

Of the 45 million professionals currently using Hightail for secured online file sharing and storage, 60 per cent are based outside the US and the firm believes APAC is primed for significant growth.

Hightail chief product officer, Matte Scheinker, told ARN that the company was committed to supporting the regional team and that it was on the lookout for a small number of quality partners who could add value to their offering.

“We are a product built for professionals, we are not built for the average consumer to share videos of football games,” he said.

“Enterprise is in our DNA and the days of the laissez-faire world of internet privacy are over.”

Hightail APAC regional leader, Kevin Mackin, said it was an exciting time for the Asia Pacific region with key economies showing solid year-on-year growth.

“Australia is the perfect springboard for Hightail’s regional expansion as it provides a very stable environment politically and economically – as well as a strong pool of IT talent.”

Mackin said Hightail was keen to work closely with customers in the region to define a new platform-agnostic approach to finding, accessing and sharing data across all platforms.

“As individuals, businesses and governments continue to create massive volumes of data online, there is the need to securely share and manage this information – even though it may reside on multiple platforms and multiple devices.

“And, while many technology companies want to lock you into their proprietary data systems, the CIOs we work with want to maintain secure control over their workflows and ecosystems – we help them achieve this.”

Hightail’s key benefits for customers include easy insights and tracking of file access, along with a formidable focus on data protection and control.

It also integrates with widely used business applications, including Microsoft Outlook, SharePoint and Salesforce.com.

Subscribers get unlimited storage making it possible to securely access and share all their files from anywhere in the world using Hightail’s iPhone, iPad and Android apps.

Australians are the world’s second highest users of Hightail’s Android app.
