The Information Technology Contract and Recruitment Association has outlined its commitment to providing clarity and assistance to the industry ahead of the biggest changes to privacy laws in 25 years.
ITCRA chief executive Julie Mills said the association had been preparing contract and recruitment companies for these changes since the middle of last year.
“With a team of auditors from Certex International, supported by Andrew Wood as an adviser and financial support from OAMPS Insurance Brokers, has rolled out a workshop and document and practice review program to the industry at large,” she said.
“The program is intensive and requires whole of company commitment but has been acclaimed by those who participate not only for the detail but also for the resources and the detailed Q and A support that is available”
Certex International managing director, Dianne Gibert, whose audit team is responsible for delivering the program said: “what has been pleasing is the service suppliers as well as non ITCRA members who have taken the opportunity to review their procedures and practices and use the communication mapping exercise and the templates to develop best practice in this crucial area of data management and personal information collection, storage and transfer.”
Mills said the contract and recruitment sector was in a pivotal position to educate and inform the client and contractor marketplace.
“This program continues to demonstrate ITCRA’s leading edge services for all those engaged in the ICT industry,” she said.
“The Association is committed to using the plethora of questions that are developing as the basis for further submissions to the OAIC to ensure there is clarity for the industry with respect to the unique nuances of the contract and recruitment sector, particularly in relation to data and communication management.
“With the Act in force on March 12, 2014, I am pleased most of our Members will have completed their due diligence in this area.”
