She’s won four Olympic gold medals, broken seven world records and competed at three Summer Olympics.
But now, Australian swimming legend, Libby Trickett, is taking on the Australian channel as the newest weapon in the arsenal of serial entrepreneur Bevan Slattery’s latest startup Megaport.
Trickett, who is admittedly ‘new’ to the industry, has taken up the role of Megaport channel and partner manager for Australia.
Trickett said she was thrilled to be taking on to be taking on a new challenge in the corporate world with Megaport.
"While telecommunications is a new industry for me, at its core my role is about building and maintaining relationships for Megaport and our partners,” she said.
“I'm looking forward to the challenge of learning a new industry and delighted with the opportunity at Megaport."
Megaport chief executive, Bevan Slattery, said he was delighted to have Libby join the Megaport team at such an exciting time in the company’s development.
“As a leader and ambassador in the Australian Swimming team Libby’s work ethic, focus and commitment to team is matched by her friendly and engaging nature,” he said.
“These are the attributes every employer wants in a team member.
“I think our customers will love getting to know Libby as she works with Belinda to roll out our Australian channel program."
The company was granted a Facilities-Based Operator Licence by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore in January, which will allow Megaport to build and operate telecommunications infrastructure in the Singapore market.
The initial launch in Singapore will include the completion of its 100 Gigabit Ethernet enabled network-as-a-service platform, connecting organisations and Cloud computing providers between major data centres in Singapore.
Subsequent network development phases will see Megaport undertake the substantial roll out of a large capacity fibre optic cable network.
