Gartner has named ICT solutions provider Dimension Data in the Visionaries Quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Cloud-enabled managed hosting, Asia Pacific.
In its first Magic Quadrant for this market sector, Gartner analysts evaluated 15 service providers offering managed hosting in APAC, based on the criteria of ‘ability to execute’ and ‘completeness of vision’.
While no service provider was positioned in the Leaders quadrant in the report, Dimension Data is one of three service providers placed in the Visionaries quadrant.
Dimension Data chief executive Rodd Cunico said he considered his company’s positioning in the visionaries quadrant as further confirmation of its ability to help both enterprise and service provider clients to realise the benefits of the cloud.
“We have differentiated ourselves through our cloud technologies, strong performance guarantees, expertise in both cloud and managed services, and broad coverage across APAC and the rest of the world,” he said.
“We have deployed data centres in Hong Kong, Japan, Indonesia, India and Australia using a single unified architecture.
“This standard architecture gives regional or global businesses operating in Asia-Pacific, or multinationals headquartered in APAC, high-level security, scale and certainty when they look to deploy applications and services on Dimension Data’s infrastructure across any location.”
In this Magic Quadrant, Gartner defined cloud-enabled managed hosting as a cloud infrastructure platform, combining cloud-enabled system infrastructure (CESI) with managed services -- offered by a hosting provider, or the hosting division of a broader vendor.
Gartner views these services as generally suitable for general business applications.
They may not be ready for complex enterprise applications or e-business hosting that requires high scalability or a high rate of change in systems and application infrastructure.
