Following a two-year stint as NEC Australia chief planning officer, Tetsuro Akagi has been promoted to managing director, effective today.
In the previous role, Akagi was in charge of legal, risk and compliance, corporate IT, several specialised solutions business areas, and strategic liaison with NEC Asia-Pacific (APAC) and global. He will now lead what NEC Australia calls its ‘next phase of growth’.
“Over the last three years we have evolved the business from a solely communications business into an integrated, multi-vendor ICT solutions and services organisation,” Akagi said.
“In particular, acquisition of CSG’s Technology Solutions group in 2012 has allowed us to develop many new, value-added solutions and services for our customer and to develop a large and growing pipeline of opportunities.”
Akagi also said he intends to lead the Australian business to become the leading NEC group globally by developing the most recognised portfolio of solutions and services.
Akagi has been with NEC for more than 30 years in a career which has seen him attain international sales, business planning and management functions experience from the US, Hong Kong and China.
