Telecommunications provider, Vodafone, has opened the doors to its call centre on Elizabeth Street in Hobart, in which it will run its operations with 100 employees.
The site will serve as a temporary facility until its permanent centre is completed on Argyle and Bathurst Streets in the second half of 2014.
The 100 employees who are working in the Hobart centre are a mixture of experienced staff and new recruits. A further 150 to 200 employees will join the facility by the end of January.
Part of the Hobart team will specifically work on providing exclusive customer service to Vodafone Red customers, the telco’s flagship plans which offer locally-based customer care and support.
In March, Vodafone announced it would create more than 700 new roles in the Tasmanian centre with support from the State and Federal Governments. It has since hired more than 270 staff.
