Sydney, 11 December 2003 – Acer Computer Australia, Australia’s number three PC vendor and the fastest growing brand*, today announced the launch of the TravelMate C300, the first ever-convertible tablet PC incorporating a 14.1-inch screen and in-built optical drive design. Acer has combined the latest Intel Centrino mobile technology with improved user focused tablet PC features delivering new levels of convenience and system performance.

The new Acer TravelMate C300 improves the viewing experience with an industry first 14.1 inch LCD, and meets the needs of users who prefer a larger writing surface. The TravelMate C300’s convertible screen adjusts quickly and easily between notebook and tablet mode. Using digital ink on the large 14.1-inch screen allows documents to be created and edited in any situation.

One of the new features of the TravelMate C300 is a light sensor that measures ambient lighting, and will automatically adjust screen brightness to suit the light conditions. Users may choose to adjust the lighting manually, and the light sensor software will save the setting to be used the next time similar light conditions are encountered.

The innovative 2-spindle form factor offers the convenience of a built-in and hot-swappable optical drive. The TravelMate C300 comes standard with integrated Gigabit LAN and full-size keyboard, further enhancing the C300’s position as a premium desktop replacement Tablet PC.

Incorporating innovative design, the TravelMate C300 provides leading performance and is powered with up to 7-hours battery life. Up to 13-hours with the Acer MediaBay second battery can be delivered.

“The TravelMate C300 makes clear Acer’s endeavour to empower people with the most user-centric technology, to meet their most natural and practical computing needs,” said Lindsay Tobin, Product Manager, Acer Computer Australia. “The addition of the C300 to Acer’s Tablet PC range means we now offer users a full range of tablet PCs to suit any needs.”
