Australian owned PC component supplier BBF Components has won the right to distribute Maxtor hard disk drives, the vendor announced yesterday.
Maxtor reported it chose the 10 year-old Melbourne-based company because of its strong reseller base and market knowledge.
BBF have 7000 value-added resellers on its database, 2500 of whom are active, BBF managing director Michael Muscat said.
The company supplies components and peripherals to their customers via catalogue and a security-coded interactive price list on the Internet and plans to make money on the low-margin product through volume purchase discounts.
Muscat said, at first his reseller would respond to the new product in his stable with scepticism "but once we crack the ice and they learn Maxtor provides good quality products" they'll warm up.www.bbf.com.au
