Hosting and Cloud services provider, UberGlobal, has acquired Cloud accounting software vendor, MYOB’s domain and hosting business, which comprises the hosting brands SmartyHost and Ilisys.
As per the acquisition terms, UberGlobal will also take over all hosting and reseller customers from MYOB's hosting business.
All of MYOB’s customers will also have access to new products and services, such as managed Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint and Lync, e-Stores, payment gateways, Cloud backup and Infrastructure-as-a-Service.
UberGlobal chairman, Mark McConnell, said the new acquisition enables the company to expand by 40 per cent and increase its share of the Australian hosting market from 11 per cent to 18 per cent, placing UberGlobal in a higher competitive position.
According to McConnell, the takeover will be UberGlobal’s fourth major acquisition in the last five years and reinforces UberGlobal’s claim to be the market’s most active consolidator.
He said incorporating the SmartyHost and Ilisys businesses was a key step in the company’s evolution, adding further scale and market share to its growing operations.
“This acquisition is directly aligned with UberGlobal’s Cloud services consolidation strategy.
“The deal is part of a strategic commitment to invest in the Australian hosting market, further build our portfolio and offer our newly acquired customers access to one of Australia’s most advanced Cloud services and hosting platforms,” he said.
MYOB enterprise and Websites divisions general manager, Andrew Birch, said the sale of its domain and hosting business, which operated separately from the rest of its Websites Division, empowers MYOB to focus on the aspects of the business that are core to its client offering.
“It was vital that we found a business with the same commitment to customer service. We are confident UberGlobal will make a smooth transition to providing the same exemplary support that SmartyHost and Ilisys customers are accustomed to,” he said.
McConnell also said that in the coming months, UberGlobal intends to drastically grow its advanced Cloud services offering to SMEs, enterprises and resellers in Australia.
