The new MacBook Air features Intel's new Haswell processors, so it's expected Apple will want to update its MacBook Pro with Retina display models to include Haswell processors too.

New MacBook Pro release date

Following the realisation that Apple wouldn't be launching new MacBook Pro models at WWDC earlier this year, analysts and Apple watchers reassessed their new MacBook Pro release date predictions.

The consensus is that Apple will launch a new MacBook Pro with Retina display this year, and most of the rumours point to a September release.

However, new reports have suggested that the new MacBook Pro could be delayed until October, a slightly later date than previously expected.

When the new MacBook Pro with Retina display is launched, Apple could decide to discontinue its non-Retina MacBook Pro models. Apple previously discontinued its older line of MacBooks, so it seems likely that the company will want to discontinue the non-Retina MacBook Pro and focus on the Retina models at some point in the future.

New MacBook Pro rumours

The rumour that we think is most likely to be true suggests that Apple will use Intel's new Haswell processors to power the new MacBook Pro models. Apple's current MacBook Pro models have Intel's older Ivy Bridge chips, but the new Haswell chips can significantly improve battery life of laptops.

The new MacBook Pro could also be even more slimmed down than the current Retina MacBook Pro models, according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. As well as the visible design changes, the new Retina MacBook Pro could also boast 'Full HD' 1080p FaceTime HD camera.

New iMac leaked images
