Optima has selected William Hamzey as its new channel sales manager. The internal appointment follows the resignation of former channels director, Michael Calculli in early December.
Hamzey has been acting in the role for three months prior to the promotion. He previously held the position of channel business development manager under Calculli last year, and spent six years working across the vendor's PC manufacturing business.
While he was acting channel sales manager, Hamzey achieved the highest monthly revenue figure ever recorded by the channel business, Optima said. Improving channel communications and processes by working closer with resellers was key to Optima's future success, Hamzey said.
"Being an Australian vendor among the major multinationals is an interesting situation with its obvious challenges but we do a lot of things right at Optima and I believe our flexibility and adaptability will ensure our continued success," he said.
Hamzey said partner success was not just based on lifting reseller numbers.
"We are not interested in setting record numbers of resellers, it's about quality and not quantity," he said.
"The key to our future success will be our ability to constantly understand the true value adds that our business partners require in a competitive market. It's not only about best price and margin."
