The Australian subsidiary of accounting software vendor Pastel has hailed in the New Year with the appointment of a new general manager plucked straight from the channel. John North has taken on the role after over 10 years experience working with Pastel in the channel. North indicated e-business and channel support as key focal points for the company in 2001.
"We will be developing channel-based programs to enable resellers to source clients," North said. "We are also releasing an e-commerce package in the second part of this year that will make e-commerce-based solutions an affordable option for mid sized businesses in Australia."
North's appointment has also been timed to coincide with the appointment of Les Kentera to the newly created role of channels manager.
"The creation of this position indicates how serious Pastel is about developing our channel services," North said.
Pastel also plans to enter into the online commerce software market and North describes Pastel's entry into the e-commerce arena as timely. "It is a very competitive market, but unlike others we have taken the time to develop the software before bringing it to market," North said.
