Intel units reorganised

Intel announced recently that it would combine the company's Network Communications Group and its Communications Products Group into a single business unit in an effort to focus on development of products for Internet infrastructure and networking equipment.

The new unit will be known as the Networking and Communications Group, Intel said in a statement. It will bring together Intel Internet Architecture (IXA)-based silicon components for voice and data networks with the company's OEM (original equipment manufacturer) communications platforms and systems for customer voice and data-driven Internet operations, Intel said Sean Maloney, executive vice president and former director of the company's Sales and Marketing Group, will head the combined business unit.
