Australian ISP OzEmail and content services provider Yahoo! have joined forces in the realms of content provision. In a new deal announced today, Yahoo! content will be available through the OzEmail home page (www.ozemail.com.au).
According to OzEmail CEO Justin Milne, the OzEmail site will be reworked to include additional services such as finance, shopping, instant messaging, auctions, travel, sport, careers, movies, music, astrology, greeting cards and other information that is woven throughout the site.
While the bulk of the content will be provided through the Yahoo! site, Milne insists the new portal will retain an OzEmail look and feel, and continue to be supported through online help and account checking.
Tony Faure, regional vice president for Yahoo! in south Asia told ARN that while the deal did not integrate OzEmail's new OzEpay service, he believed many Yahoo! users would take it up as an payment option in order to conduct online purchases.
"Yahoo! believes it is a great way to broaden our audience," Faure said. "It is a great way for Yahoo! to broaden our audience, and certainly part of the deal with be extensive promotion of OzEmail on Yahoo! sites."
Although Faure remained reticent to reveal exact details of the deal he said the plan was designed to be revenue positive for both sides.
"We have always got on well with OzEmail, so when the arrangement was made it only took a few weeks to formalise," Faure said. "The technology to implement the deal already exists, although it will take a few weeks to implement on the OzEmail site."
