Software vendor Computer Associates has used its annual CA World partners and customers conference as a forum to clarify the details surrounding its new channel approach simply titled Channel Partner Program (CPP).
Announced in late June, the partner catagorisation of the original VIP program, which grouped channel partners according to product lines, has been replaced with one which focuses on the channel partner capabilities and attributes.
According to CA's vice president of channel marketing Ira Simon the new program will see the revenue based resellers and OEMs designated as channel partners, while technology based partners would become solution and development partners. CA has further divided the channel into four categories and developed specific programs to cater to each new grouping.
Addressing an international gathering of channel partners including representatives of Australian distributors Express Data, Ingram Micro, Tech Pacific and ACA Pacific, Simon said CA had made a commitment to enable their partners to profit through theirpartnership with CA.
"This is an ongoing initiave, which will see CA reaching out to the channel through every available media, as well as providing significant sales support and branding," Simon said.
CA's new CCP also includes increased availability of technical and product information, through advertising supplements, direct mail out and the web based Channel eSource Centre.
