Pioneer picks up Castlewood

Pioneer Computers Australia has cashed in on the demise of Chips, signing on to distribute ORB storage drives by Castlewood.

According to Pioneer financial controller Molly Lai, the company is set to take over the master distributor roll formally held by Chips, as there is no one else in the country currently distributing the high capacity consumer drives.

"It is a unique product, there is no margin on Zip drives any more, but because these are an emerging technology there is a chance for resellers to get in on the ground floor and make a tidy profit," Lai said.

Although Pioneer is not providing warranty on the drives, Lai said Castlewood has appointed service agents to deal directly with end users experiencing difficulties.
