Hosting infrastructure provider to expand service coverage in Brisbane

Digital Sense is boosting its ability to provide enterprise-level Cloud services from its local datacentres following the adoption of a NetApp solution.

The hosting infrastructure provider is acquiring two NetApp FAS3220 units running clustered Data ONTAP 8.2 to meet the enterprise level needs of customers, which also comes with flash support and up to 1.4PB of data storage.

Digital Sense CTO, Michael Tran, said the decision was spurred by a lack of scalability in the previous system the company used, which had a tendency to “produce unpredictable amounts of data.”

“We were ultimately looking to upgrade to a platform that could grow as our customer's business did,” he said.

When it came to looking for a replacement system, Tran said the company said the criteria was that it should provide enterprise-grade Cloud services that could be distributed across multiple datacentres throughout the Brisbane area.

Local flavour

Digital Sense chose Brisbane based systems integrator, FLEXdata, to carry out the implementation at its datacentre following a competitive bid.

FLEXdata solutions general manager, Troy Coker, said Digital Sense approached the systems integrator to strengthen its enterprise offering in order to compete with the growing number of Cloud providers.

“The integrated solution from NetApp was a perfect match to firstly meet Digital Sense’s needs, as well as maximise ROI from the IT infrastructure,” he said.

Digital Sense expects that its customers will experience cost savings of up to 80 per cent as the provider will be able to provide a more “aggressive and competitive” large scale Cloud storage service in the Brisbane area.
