Newly established software distributor, it4, is hunting for channel partners to carry its document management wares.
The UK-based company set up shop in Melbourne after participating in a Commonwealth Games trade mission in March. It is the sole local distributor of document management software from UK outfit, Invu.
Technical director, Aaron Belton, said it had been stocking the Invu product for about six years. The software automatically files, updates and tracks any document circulating in an office. Its latest iteration, Series6, which is based on .NET technology, will be released on July 10.
To date, the company had experienced most success with photocopier and multi-function device resellers that supply the software as part of a bundled document management system, Belton said. But the distributor was also hoping to attract systems integrators and consultants.
"The paper storage and management guys can offer this solution and provide remote access functionality. It adds value to their products," he said. "With increasing legislation these days, businesses need to hold and maintain data in an effective way."
The software will be sold by subscription, with pricing based on a two- to five-year contract and the number of seats. Resellers will get a percentage of subscription fees and will be expected to provide first-level support.
In return, it4 would provide free sales and technical training, Belton said, as well as marketing collateral. A business development manager would assist with customer installations and lead generation.
With larger players such as Documentum and Tower Software targeting the enterprise sector, Belton said it4 would hit the SMB market. He highlighted the financial and legal sectors as key opportunities. Existing global customers included Universal Music Group, Man Financial and Panasonic.
