Intel is reaching out to small businesses with its latest network appliance, the InBusiness Storage Station.
According to Intel, the product - available in a 12GB version, with a 24GB model on the way - will bring collaborative file sharing, file protection and increased file-storage capacity to small businesses, all in a unit approximately the size of a laptop computer, for under $US1000.
The InBusiness Storage Station comes with a 266MHz Intel Pentium processor and a five-user licence for Centered Systems' data-backup software, Second Copy 97, which allows users to specify which files need to be backed up, as well as when and how often. The process is then automated.
The new product is part of Intel's expanding line of network appliances aimed at small businesses, joining the Intel InBusiness Internet Station, the Intel InBusiness e-Mail Station and the Intel InBusiness Print Station.
