Connectivity vendor US Robotics is courting distribution partners in an attempt to ramp up sales of its SOHO and home user lines of modems and wireless offerings.
On a whirlwind tour of Sydney, John Rea, managing director of the Asia Pacific region, plans to meet with distributors and high-end VARs to discuss opportunities in the Australian market.
US Robotics has gone from strength to strength since its split from networking vendor 3Com in July last year, ramping up its release time and focussing on innovations in the home and SOHO market.
"Since the beginning of the year we have bought three new products onto the Australian market," Rea said. "And we are on the verge of releasing about 10 new home connectivity products."
According to Rea last year's break from 3Com enabled US Robotics to speed up its development cycles and quickly release a series of products, enabling it to respond to new directions in the market place.
"We are now repositioning the company to provide a range of Internet access appliances which go beyond the simple modem," Rea said.
US Robotics up and coming product line includes wireless offerings, cable modems, DSL modems, broadband routers, NICs, a new range of v92 modems, and itsound link device which allow MP3s to be played via a wireless connection with a home stereo system.
