500 Citrix resellers can't be wrong

Citrix Systems will appoint a marketing manager dedicated to growing the number of Citrix Authorised Learning Centres (CALCs) in Australia, among other initiatives, after garnering response from over 500 resellers at its Solutions Summit conference in Sydney last week.

The application server software provider held its second annual Asia Pacific partner conference designed to provide Citrix's growing reseller base with three "go do" items, that the vendor believes will ensure its partners' success.

The items, according to David Weiss, Citrix vice president marketing, include a commitment to further certification and training under CALCs, a focus on selling Citrix's MetaFrame XP product in Window's environments, and a desire to increase the penetration of MetaFrame XP throughout a customer's infrastructure.

Citrix is reporting 40 per cent repeat business and Weiss claims resellers have to cross sell the MetaFrame product line into other departments within a business and deploy it for more than one application. "It's easier to sell something, once somebody knows you," says Weiss.

Other feedback reported by Citrix was the need for a clear product roadmap in regards to what future applications can be deployed by Citrix, claims Gary O'Brien, Citrix marketing director Asia Pacific. He also notes the vendor is looking to make technology obtained from Citrix's acquisition of Sequoia Software in March more channel friendly.
