Sydney-based software testing and automation company, TestPro, has selected Dimension Data’s (DiData), public compute-as-a-service (CaaS) offering for the computing power required to generate up to 16Gbps worth of simulated traffic, without disruption.
Dimension Data is a South African ICT services and solutions provider.
TestPro reduces the risk of failure associated with web sites and applications by testing their capabilities prior to launch. It selected DiData with the goal of enabling effective, reliable and rigorous load testing services.
“If you have a bottleneck in the infrastructure you’re generating the test from, effectively, you’re measuring the device you’re testing from” TestPro managing director, Scott Marchant, said. “For some of our public sector clients, testing has to simulate traffic equal to 5,000 concurrent hits and interactions, so bandwidth and reliability are paramount.
TestPro decided on DiData as its public CaaS uses a Cloud-based infrastructure, and promises 100 per cent guaranteed availability which can be scaled, customised and autonomously controlled.
“We often run tests between 12am and 4am to prevent disruption to our clients’ staff and site visitors, and with DiData’s service we can access a portal that allows us to create our own servers; essentially a mastering systems,” Marchant said.
In addition, the Cloud portal allows TestPro to create multiple groups of virtual servers, each hosting its own instance of the testing software. This means switching between workloads can be done by shutting down one group of machines and launching another.
