Specialist networking distributor LAN Systems took flight last week with the winners of its LANmania incentive program, designed to give the distributor's top resellers a technology edge and a great week away.
From October 1, 2000, until March 31 this year, LAN Systems' resellers vied for promotional points based on the amount of participating vendor products they sold. The points were accumulated on a geographic density basis, and took into account the size of the reseller, the application of the technology and the reseller's cross-selling capabilities, says Nick Verykios, general manager of LAN Systems.
The 16 top resellers that went on the trip attended the LAN Systems Technology Forum, which involved non-disclosure technology briefings for new products from a range of vendors, including Cisco Systems, 3Com, Network Associates, Alcatel IND and Citrix.
"Basically these guys hear how to best use the technology and vendor's channel programs straight from the horse's mouth," Verykios said.
The winning resellers also attended the Networld+Interop show in Las Vegas and automatically became members of the Protocol Club, an ongoing alumni group that has the opportunity to attend quarterly executive briefings.
This year's winners include: Smart Communications (NSW), Australian Component Services (QLD), Marconi (WA), Path Communications (NSW), Logical Networks (NSW), 90 East (ACT), PowerLan (NSW), Allcom Networks (NSW), BCA-IT (VIC), Logical New Zealand (NZ), LANLINK (QLD), Volante Integrated Technology (SA), CDM (QLD), Nilsen Communications (VIC), eServ (NSW) and NetStar (NSW/VIC).
