Debit card transaction system, eftpos Australia, has signed a five-year deal with technology provider, C-SAM, to develop an eftpos mobile wallet and near-field communication (NFC) widget which will be trialled with select retailers over the next few months.
This means the C-SAM platform will allow smartphone users a mobile wallet for conducting secure NFC transactions related to payments and other value-added services.
eftpos chief executive officer (CEO), Bruce Mansfield, said the technology “could” also be used for eftpos services such as offers, loyalty, and transfer of receipts in addition to mobile payments.
“In an effort to make eftpos mobile payments as simple, flexible, and accessible as possible, the new eftpos mobile wallet and NFC widget will be developed as white label products that could potentially be used by a number of Australian retailers or financial institutions.”
“We want to make sure that any new technology we offer on mobile devices is going to provide financial institutions, retailers and consumers with secure, accessible and affordable payment solutions that they have come to expect from eftpos,” Mansfield said.
