Acer launches free accidental damage protection

Promotion to serve as differentiator for resellers and retailers

Electronics manufacturer, Acer Australia, is offering complimentary one-year accidental damage protection on all notebooks and tablets purchased between May 8 and August 31.

Accidental damage includes, but is not limited to, liquid spills on or in a unit, drops, falls and other similar impacts, electrical surge, damaged or broken LCD or accidental breakage.

Customers can upgrade the cover by either one or two years (for a maximum of three) for an additional cost. Additional notebook protection costs $149 and $219 for one and two years respectively, with tablet cover coming in at $119 and $189 respectively.

Acer Australia technical services director, Neil Roberts, said the warranty intends to show customers they can rely on the vendor to protect their investment.

In additional, it serves as a differentiator for both its reseller channel and retailers, who can use the promotion as a selling point in attracting new business.

Acer also announced the offer will launch in New Zealand at “a later date.”
