VMware is looking to further enhance its relationship with its service provider partners by making some updates to its service provider program.
It recently added Cloud credits to the program, in an attempt at building on its hybrid Cloud offering.
The VMware Cloud Credits Purchasing Program enables customers to buy public or hybrid Cloud services in one transaction and redeem with approved vCloud service providers over time.
VMware Asia-Pacific and Japan hybrid Cloud services director, Dan McLean, said the hybrid Cloud space is a lucrative industry and attributed a recent report by Gartner that showed 45 per cent of all IT enterprises will be on hybrid Clouds by 2015.
“We are trying to build the alignment between our service providers, field sales and core channel partners. We want our partners to capitalise on this opportunity through extending the success of our private Cloud to hybrid Cloud,” he said.
McLean was speaking at the VMware Partner Exchange conference in Sydney.
He claimed the enhancement will also benefit customers as they are trying to simplify their procurement cycles and the number of vendors they deal with.
“We wanted to recognise that sometimes, some companies aren’t ready for the consumption model of the public Cloud. We wanted to tap into that and make it easier for them to buy public Cloud services,” he said.
McLean mentioned that in the transition stage, VMware is expecting this to become a spearhead for service providers to create their own direct relationships with customers.
“Over time, as solution providers build up their trust and relationships with a series of service providers, they will transition to a direct set of capabilities so they can sell a broader range of solutions.”
The company has also revamped its partner central page, re-jigged its 2013 learning paths and has added new campaigns to the program.
