It has come to Tabloid's attention that departing Sun managing director Russell Bate was sent off with much musical fanfare last week after his eight-year leadership came to an end.
Various classical musicians performed a series of thematic tunes reflecting Bate's personality and career at the Sun-sponsored Yarra Valley Festival. Titled "Five Seasons", the music blended such tunes as Always on time and Focus, reflecting some of Bates' sterling attributes.
"We wanted to honour Russ' work in a way that was as unique as the man himself," said Loraine Golden, marketing director of Sun Microsystems.
The Tabloid crew thought it was about time we organised a tribute to some of the channel identities we've come to know and love over the years, and make some suggestions for any future exits of today's channel characters.
