Distributor, TrackITOnline, has added virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) vendor, Pivot3 to its line up.
TrackITOnline director, Phil Lancaster, said since the introduction of VDI, customers and the channel wrestled with adding on to existing infrastructure to provide a VDI platform.
“This approach has seen many failed projects, not due to the underlying technology but due to the deployment,” Lancaster said. “Pivot3 overcomes just about all of the potential pitfalls, delivering a purpose built VDI solution in a box.”
Lancaster said the product set would also appeal to smaller companies looking at managing desktops.
“We are already working with a number of focused partners,” he said.
Pivot3’s vSTAC VDI R2 appliance delivers a scalable, VDI solution and provides a virtual desktop for less than the cost of a PC, according to the vendor.
It exploits the View Storage Accelerator and reduces read caching hardware, which the vendor says increases performance 10 fold. It features four times more RAM, 10 times more capacity and it can save customers up to 45 per cent per desktop when compared to the previous R1 generation, Pivot3 said.
