Melbourne-based Trident Computer Services has been selected as a key reseller for Acer Computer Australia, with a partnership between the companies to provide hardware and software solutions to the education, government and SMB sectors.
Established 16 years ago, Trident has a proven track record in the IT industry - particularly in the education sector. But it is the reseller's ability to integrate applications along with hardware systems that caught the eye of the PC vendor.
"I think we were selected because of our track record and having good, key relationships with our customers," explained Trident director Mark Rak. "We have generated a very good name within the marketplace. We felt we could help, particularly in the SMB market with between 200 and 300 users given our skills base in putting a few applications together."
As well as the PC and network integration business, Trident is finding increasing success in software development, particularly in applications such as customer relationship management (CRM), financial and high end reporting software.
Trident started as a partner with NEC, and remains Platinum dealer with the vendor. The company also has business partnerships with the likes of Great Plains, Cognos and Goldmine Customer Relationship Management as well as HP.
"We felt Acer was a very good fit with what we do," Rak said. "We see our relationship with Acer being a very good one in terms of the markets they are involved in. They have the ability to develop leading edge technology and form factors. Equally, they can deliver in terms of infrastructure."
Traditionally Trident has supported some of the larger schools in Victoria, another attraction for the PC vendor.
"Trident's long involvement with the education sector made them an obvious choice as a partner," said Acer's national channel sales manager Greg Mikaelian. "For Acer, the Trident partnership extends our reach into these segments."
"Education is certainly an area we are looking at growing with Acer," Rak confirmed.
The company is also targeting the SMBs, through the development and integration of software applications as well as hardware installation.
