Wireless network provider, Kore Wireless, has launched its M2M starter kit, which aims to support developers of M2M hardware and applications without them having to commit to the volume and minimum contract periods associated with traditional providers.
It offers network and office support, with access to more than 500 global carriers.
Kore Wireless Asia-Pacific vice-president and general manager, Shane Murphy, said the kit was developed to enable companies to improve their businesses.
“Many times we see people get to the point in their business where they need to test their network configuration, the connectivity and determine a viable route to market. Our experience is that over a three month trial period most of the issues and challenges will be identified,” he said.
Murphy said the starter kit offers an opportunity for businesses to work with clients from inception, development to deployment of their product.
“By the time it goes to market, the product and business will have a robust and well tested understanding of how the product is going to perform and be managed.”
According to Murphy, a key aspect of the starter kit is the support provided to users. The company has employed a Kore Wireless account manager and 24/7 support based in Australia and Canada.
The M2M Starter Kit includes: A Kore Wireless SIM card with a predefined bulk data and SMS plan to be used over three months; as well as access to Kore’s M2M management portal PRiSM Pro for SIM provisioning, usage monitoring and device troubleshooting.
The SIMs are designed for use in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Macao, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
At the end of the trial period, businesses can move to a monthly plan with no minimum commitments or contract.
