Venture capital firm, OneVentures, has made a “significant investment” in Charmhealth Pty, a Brisbane-based developer and supplier of specialist oncology electronic medical record and clinical information systems.
Charmhealth represented an opportunity for the firm to invest at growth stage in a company that operates in “the rapidly expanding Health-IT sector,” said OneVentures partner, Anne-Marie Birkill, who has watched Charmhealth for seven years.
Charmhealth provides software products aimed at transforming health care by improving patient outcomes and the economics and efficiency of health care delivery, she said.
Behind the growth is the somewhat disturbing increase in cancer incidence, which is rising dramatically in both developed and emerging economics, becoming one of the most expensive and fragmented diseases for health systems to manage, she noted.
The company’s flagship product offers a cancer treatment management solution in one package that integrates with other applications in the public and private health care systems including prescriptions, radiology, chemotherapy, and transplant support within a single patient-centric electronic medical record that can be shared across facilities.
The product has been deployed at private and public health facilities such as Queensland's Mater Health, the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Victoria and the Royal North Shore Hospital in New South Wales.
Charmhealth CEO, Mark Wild, “We have made substantial investment in developing our new product range over the past three years and OneVentures joins us at an exciting time of expansion in both our customer base and market,” he said.
