Panasonic has launched a fully rugged tablet, the FZ-G1 Toughpad, and a business rugged convertible Ultrabook, the Toughbook CF-AX2.
Panasonic Australia Toughbook product marketing manager, Jason Lee, said the two devices have been “purpose built for the mobile workforce”.
The FZ-G1 Toughpad is Panasonic’s first full rugged tablet running on Microsoft Windows 8.
“It is the thinnest and lightest device of its kind, designed for mobile service workers working out on the field or in vehicles,” Lee said.
The tablet is fully configurable fit for purpose, with several customisations options available depending on the needs of users.
The device weighs 1.1 kg and comes with a robust exterior designed to withstand multiple shocks and drops for reliability in the field.
“Whether it is utility staff working to restore power in hostile conditions or a salesperson out in the field, the elevated level of durability ensures maximum worker productivity and minimises downtime,” Lee said.
The Toughbook CF-AX2 distinguishing feature is the 360 flip over hinge design, so it can be used either in notebook or tablet mode.
“This Ultrabook is designed to meet the needs of a busy mobile sales exec,” Lee said.
“To that end, it has a full array of AV interfaces, security options and long life battery.”
Unlike other Ultrabooks on the market, the battery in the CF-AX2 is hot swappable.
Lee said the battery runs for up to eight hours on a single charge, and an optional second battery can be used to “minimise downtime with no impact on productivity.”
The CF-AX2 weights 1.15 kg and runs on Windows 8.
“This Ultrabooks has been designed with the hard knocks and scrapes on the road in mind, and it can withstand drops of up to 76cm and 100 kg force pressure on the screen,” Lee said.
The FZ-G1 and CF-AX2 retail for $3299 and $2499 respectively, and are available now.
