With over 85 retail franchisee businesses, 11 owned stores and five warehouses across the country, Yokohama Tyre Australia (YTA) turned to NTT Communications (NTT) to streamline its IT services.
NTT will provide the tyre vendor with a fully managed business solution spanning networking, security, Internet and datacentre services and support.
YTA IT manager, Duance Hum, said using NTT for all the company’s requirements was “an easy choice.”
“Our IT infrastructure needed to be both reliable and simple to manage,” he said.
When it came to choosing a company to carry out the ICT upgrade, NTT’s reputation in relation to its services was one of several deciding factors.
“NTT is known for its reliable network and world class datacentres,” Hum said.
“The security and performance of their Sydney datacentre offered us significant operational advantages over keeping it in-house, whilst also lowering our total cost of ownership.”
Localised system outages was one of the key issues that YTA wanted to overcome with the upgrade, particularly at its “Tyres and More” franchisees, retail stores, national customer contact centre and warehouses in the distributor’s network.
Hum said the company operated its servers from one of our warehouses before the upgrade.
“Unfortunately, we experienced regular evacuations which wreaked havoc on our system as the servers had to be taken off-line each time,” he said.
