The Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) has welcomed the SA government’s ICT strategy position paper, SA Connected.
The paper was recently released by the premier of SA, Jay Weatherill, at a forum of AIIA members, industry leaders and government executives. Weatherill also took the opportunity to outline The Government’s future direction on the use of ICT to deliver government services.
AIIA CEO, Suzanne Campbell, commended The Government on its co-design philosophy, highlighted by its early and ongoing engagement with the industry.
“We applaud The Government’s transparency in aligning the ICT strategy with government business priorities, in particular the emphasis placed on supporting government departments and executives in executing their business more efficiently and effectively,” she said.
AIIA South Australian Council government special interest group chair, Peter Fulton, claimed The Government’s enthusiasm to drive business reform and service innovation using modern digital technology signals its foresight and commitment to leading change that will impact people.
“In embracing technology and the industry in this process, The Government is affirming its confidence in our sector and, in particular, the South Australian ICT industry,” he said.
Campbell also expressed continued commitment to the proposed strategy and ongoing engagement with the SA government.
“At the end of the day, it will be the people of South Australia who will be the real winners. The South Australian connected ICT strategy is an exemplar of government working with industry to ‘get it right’,” she added.
