AMD's Duron processor has hit the 1.3GHz mark. The latest addition to the Duron family offers a small speed increase over AMD's previously fastest Duron chip, which runs at 1.2GHz.
However, the product matches the clock speed of rival Intel's fastest Celeron processor. The processor is aimed at the mainstream PC market and is optimised for the Windows XP operating system.
It also supports double data rate (DDR) SDRAM with more than 100 motherboard solutions available on the market, all based on AMD's Socket A infrastructure. In 1000-unit quantities, the processor is priced at $US118.
