Software vendor, SAP, has launched its long-awaited Business Suite in A/NZ, integrating the vendor’s existing HANA platform.
Business Suite is the vendor’s attempt at integrating its family of business applications, with the significant technical upgrade coming in the form of an in-memory platform.
By going with in-memory, SAP A/NZ president and managing director, Andrew Barkla, said Business Suite is able to capture and analyse transactional data in real-time.
“For SAP, this is the most significant solution announcement that we have brought the market in the last 20 years,” he said.
“Those who know SAP know that it led the ERP industry, and now we’re combining with what is the leading ERP solution with in-memory database technology, which really changes the game for our customers.”
Barkla expects the product to appeal to businesses that demand real-time access to information for critical decision making, particularly large companies that can be found on the ASX.
“If you take the top 20 companies on the ASX, which represent half of the overall ASX, two thirds of those companies are SAP clients,” he said.
Barkla said half of those top 20 companies are already on a platform that SAP can “very easily move” to Business Suite and HANA platform with “very little business disruption”.
“That compatibility spans major retailers, banks, and other large companies, so we foresee very significant adoption of Business Suite by customers,” he said.
A number of early adopters of the product have already been selected in A/NZ, but Barkla was unable to name any because of “where [SAP is] with the early adopter program”.
However, he did confirm that SAP predominantly has “a number of customers” in the Government sector, and they are the ones stepping up to be early adopters.
