Retailers will be able to analyse the in-store movements of their customers with Beonic's new customer traffic mapping system. The system was launched at the Australian Retail Business Technology Exhibition last week.
Beonic is an Adelaide-based company specialising in automated customer traffic management. Beonic developed Traffic Insight to help retailers effectively monitor customer behaviour. The system uses hardware and software developed by Beonic to automatically record and map movement in stores with any shape or size floorplan.
Beonic's foray into retail traffic management began with the release of Traffic Pro for small and medium businesses. Traffic Insight is the result of two years of development and is aimed at the higher end of the market.
"There is a fairly big difference between us and other vendors because we sell through a dealer distributor network," explained Beonic founder and managing director Peter Cohen. "We currently have around 10 dealers Australia-wide and we are looking for distributors for Traffic Insight."
The system uses Microsoft's SQL 2000 database, a relatively open architecture that allows easy integration into current systems.
"Retailers have all got different systems so you have to be as open as you possibly can," Cohen explained, adding many competing solutions were often "a closed shop".
"It allows the retailer to extract and compare information - that's the real value."
Traffic Insight comes in two versions: a Retail System product or the Enterprise System.
